Small Groups

Small groups enliven our faith through knowledge, encouragement, relationships, and activities. Speak to any small group member about trying it out, or for help in starting your own group.

The Seekers

The Seekers meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month in a group member’s home. We have studied several Parables and the life of David. In service,we provided items of clothing and toiletries for individuals at The Castle. We also provided some financial support for a family adopting children. On the lighter side, we often have  fellowship gatherings for dinner at a restaurant and in summer a picnic at one of the homes. For information on small groups, please contact the office.

Joy Group

Joy Group meets the first and third Mondays of each month, 2-3:30 PM in the Conference Room. We study the Bible and other topics, keep a supplemental prayer list, and do other activities for the church. Several studies used articles from The Lutheran magazine, including “Stewarding God’s Creation,” “A Cure For Lutheran Laryngitis” and “The 95 Theses.” We performed a skit for the congregation about caring for the Earth, produced a brochure on the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” theme, and set up the battery and fluorescent bulb recycling program.

Spirit Group

The Spirit Group is the newest addition to our small groups. We are in the process of establishing our mission / purpose based on our new CTK mission statement of “Serving Jesus and Transforming Lives through Faith.” Many of the members of this group are families. While the adults are meeting for their study, the children are also having a time of learning. After the meeting we have a meal together. We meet on the first Sunday of the month at 4 PM in the Fellowship Hall at church. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact Lynn Spatz.

Gardening Angels

Gardening can be a devotional activity since all of it is devoted to make our surroundings beautiful and is therefore honoring God’s creation.  We have been blessed with many opportunities to show the community how the Holy Spirit is working both inside God’s church and outside.Gardening Angels adopt a portion of our flower beds and care for them throughout the year.  These volunteers take care of the “evil” weeds, trim bushes if needed, water, and rake leaves in the fall.In the spring we all work together to clean up the beds, edge, mulch and plant new flowers.  Again in the fall we prepare the beds for their winter rest.Gardening Angels lovingly do their part in keeping God’s “outdoor church” beautiful.  He has given us an opportunity to get to know each other as we work together, to learn from each other, and to love each other. To become a Gardening Angel please contact the office.
